Recipe testing at gatheredtable

Deb Perlman said once, “There is no such thing as a bad cook, just bad recipes.” Day in, and day out we try to live by that motto at gatheredtable.

Maybe you’ve heard us say it before but, we test every recipe in our library ourselves, adjusting time, ingredients, direction, etc – anything we see necessary to turn each into its best and simplest form. Our customer base is growing and while “Love scales,” (coined by our UI/UX designer Matt), we’ve been listening to what you’ve been saying, and one thing you want is more pictures! While we want to ensure the quality of the recipes we are recommending, we also want everyone to SEE how delicious the recipes are (call it added inspiration!). So a few weeks back, we packed up our pots, pans, knives, aprons and ahem – maybe a bottle or two of wine – and headed into the kitchen for what was an EPIC “recipalooza”.

3 days, 8 cooks, 1 kitchen, 15 pots and pans, and 1 camera later we tested, styled and photographed over 140 recipes! These delicious dishes are items you’ll see in our library and recommended on your menus over the next 3 months – and we are darn proud of them. Not to mention, the photos are enough to get your mouth watering and fingers fumbling for your iPhone (so you can quickly add the recipes to your own gatheredtable library)!

Here are a few preview photos from our first “recipalooza” (and definitely not our last)!

Day 2 and we were still chopping! Somewhere between recipe #50 and 85…IMG_5741

Chopping, chopping, chopping…can you guess what’s being chopped?*

Have suggestions for meals you’d like us to test? Recipes or ingredients you’d like to see recommended in our library? We are always listening – so talk to us and let us know your thoughts. Either leave a comment here or send us an email at
